Learn How To Fish The Tekapo And Twizel Canal System

A Very Happy 9 year old client.

Canal Fishing

The Tekapo and Twizel Canal System is located in the South Island of New Zealand and is home to some of the largest brown and rainbow trout in the world with many fish weighing in over the 20lb mark and a number over the magic 30lb mark being landed each season. The reason for the fish being so big is the abundance of snails, smelt and salmon feed that has fallen through the farms creating a perfect environment for fish growth. The canals are an unmatched sports fishery and nowhere else on the planet will you find such a large population of monster trout. This is truly a world class trout fishery that needs to be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

Here at Boothy’s Fishing School I specalise in targeting these monster fish and will teach you the techniques that will have you catching the fish of a lifetime and be confident to be able to go out on your own and have a successful day.

Being a Twizel local puts me in a great place to be up to date with all weather conditions and current canal flows as both of these thing’s play a major part in the success of your day out on the canals.

If learning how to catch and catching these giant trout sounds like you then please get in contact and I will put together a trip that will provide memories that last a life time.

This is a year round fishery where you can expect good fishing at any time of the year.
