The winter season has well and truly kicked in with lots of cold weather in the last few weeks cooling the water temperatures right down which has brought the fish on the bite. Spawning season is well under way with most of the fish keying in to small peach or white egg patterns fished very close to the bottom. In recent times we have been having a lot of success using lighter line such as 6lb to 8lb. One of the key parts of the setups I use is to always make sure you have a high quality reel with a smooth drag so that the big fish don't bust you off when they make a massive run.
I have a very busy week of guiding coming up so I will post an update when I get home.
Mike was very pleased with this 25lb Rainbow he caught on a guided day out with Boothy's Fishing School Ltd recently.
